March Conferences

Conference week is March 12th- March 16th. Today, I sent home with some of the students the paperwork for you to select a conference date and time. If your child did not receive one of these papers, you will receive their report card in the mail. However, if you would like to schedule a conference with me, feel free to email and I will make sure that you have a conference date and time.


March 7th, I will have a substitute and will be holding conferences during the day like I did in November. So, please consider that day as well for your conference.

State Report: The Final Copy

The final copy of the state report is due March 16th. The students and I need all your support to make sure that these reports are typed and ready to be turned in by that date. Feel free to e-mail or call with any questions about the report.

Tests and Assignments for this week

Friday, February 17th: Rough Draft of State Report is due. This is worth 30 points if it is turned in completed and on time.

Tuesday, February 14th: Wordly Wise Lesson 11 Test

Wednesday, February 15th: Spell-A-Thon Test (this test is worth 50 points)

Thursday, February 16th: Fractions Test ( Add and subtract fractions/mixed numbers, change mixed numbers to improper fractions and vice versa)

Also, we need a volunteer to assist the class Thursday, March 1st for the Dr. Seuss Read Around.

Upcoming important dates

Please remember our field trip to the Tech Museum is Wednesday, January 25th. Your child will need to pack a bag lunch. We still have space for one more chaperone, so if you would like to join please let me know as soon as possible.

 Also, this week we are starting state reports. This project is our first major writing assignment and will make up a large portion of their social studies grade for this and the next trimester. Rough Draft of the report is due 2/17 and the final/second draft is due 3/16. Please check in with your child on the progress of their report.

Wordly Wise Midterm 1/31/12- This test will cover lessons 1 through 10 of the Wordly Wise Program. We will review the words in class but the students need to study everyday at home to prepare.

Friday, 1/20, we will enter "The Fraction Zone" and begin working on fractions for the reminder of the month and into February. Please, review these concepts with your child because fractions are an essential skill that your child needs for math in middle school.

Also, we will be beginning our state reports at the end of the month.
